NATHAN CARDY

Graduating as winner of the TCD prize for best clinical examination in 2011, Nathan moved to Singapore where he spent four years working in Khoo Teck Puat Hospital; specialising as Senior Physiotherapist in Orthopaedics and Sports Medicine. Training in pitchside trauma management, chronic pain and sports taping, Nathan became involved in match coverage with club level rugby and Singapore Rugby Union. In 2015 Nathan worked at the South East Asian Games Medical Village as Physiotherapist-in-charge, managing athletes from 11 participating nations.

Returning to Ireland in 2015, Nathan undertook a PhD examining performance outcomes in people undergoing knee surgery. He now works as Lead Physio with Old Wesley RFC, and has also worked as a consultant physiotherapist with Leinster Rugby and Irish Women’s Cricket. Nathan worked for two years as team physio for the Irish Senior Women’s Hockey team; including European Championships in 2017 and the preparation / follow up to their historic 2018 World Cup Silver Medal. Nathan currently works with club rugby and hockey, schools rugby and rugby league.

Nathan guest lectures at TCD in both Orthopaedics and Sports Medicine. Nathan sits on the committee of the Irish Society of Chartered Physiotherapists - Research Network and regularly contributes to international discussion and teaching in Sports and Exercise Medicine.
