Injury Diagnosis

Sports injuries can be tricky to diagnose on the spot, so a careful assessment is an important first step, particularly when pain, swelling or restricted movement are involved. Nathan Cardy, PhD has extensive experience managing acute injuries and providing on-the-spot diagnosis, with specialist knowledge across sports medicine, orthopaedics and knee conditions. If further investigations such as an X-ray or MRI are needed, these can be discussed and recommended as part of your assessment.

Hands On Treatments

Sports massage, dry needling and manual therapy all form part of treatment sessions at Donnybrook Sports Medicine, where we choose techniques based on what you need. Following a complete assessment, treatment focuses on the specific area of pain or tightness and can provide relief while your recovery gets underway. This hands-on approach can work alongside Orthopaedic Physiotherapy and targeted exercise for problems such as a shoulder injury, ankle injury or other sports-related conditions.

Exercise-Based Rehab: Sports Specific Conditioning

There is no better place to rehab a sports injury than in a sports club, and our location at Old Wesley RFC provides access to a fully equipped gym and sports facilities. From the first appointment, exercise programmes are incorporated into your treatment plan, helping you maintain strength and fitness while you recover. As you progress, rehabilitation can include agility, conditioning and sport-specific drills, making Physiotherapy for Sports Injuries more relevant to the movements and demands you need to return to.
